About

The new REVO™ series of low-profile baitcast reels are the finest and fastest low-profile reels that Abu Garcia® has ever designed. The two new additions to the Revo™ lineup are the Premier and the Inshore reels. At a mere 6.3 ounces, the Revo™ Premier is the lightest one piece aluminum reel on the market. Make no mistake about it though, this super lightweight is whipping all of the heavyweights it goes up against. Also, the Abu Garcia® round baitcast reel has been the standard of fishing excellance since its introduction in 1952. More anglers have owned Ambassadeur reels than any other baitcast reel series - and today's Ambassadeur reels continue that tradition. These reels are built to handle the toughest situations and still handle like a dream. Smoother casting, exceptional drag performance, and wide adjustment range are all hallmarks of the Swedish design and engineering found in every Ambassadeur® reel.

The STX and SX are available in two gear ratios; Fast and Super Fast. Each of the tough REVO™'s are packed with innovative features, including a Duragear™ oversized brass main gear for maximum cranking power and the innovative Carbon Matrix Drag™ System for incredible power and smoothness across all drag settings. The reel also is designed with aluminum components for light-weight performance and "Built for Life" durability. The Linear Magnetic Brake™ system found on the SX, STX, and Premier models allow anglers a wide range of adjustments to fine tune the reel for any application. In addition the STX model features an Everslik™ coated pinion shaft and pawl which dramatically reduces friction for enhanced casting while improving the durability of these components. The Premier, Inshore, and STX also feature the innovative Infini Spool II™ system which is separated from the drive train and minimizes friction for incredibly long casts, and optimal performance even with the lightest tackle. Revo™'s are smaller in size and more comfortable in your hand while palming, yet hold more line than most every other reel in their class.

Overall I am very impressed with this reel. Only time will tell if it really is a true competitor to Shimano's Japanese made reels. If all the hype is true these reels should be around for quite some time.

Recommend to Others: Yes
Pros: The Revo S is a very nice real. Casts like a dream and is very smooth. The drag is amazing you could pull a skier behind you boat with this thing. So far I am very impressed and appreciate the centrifugal break on the S version like used on Shimano Curados.
Cons: Made in Red China. This is the biggest issue with this real. Will the bearings and gear hold up like a Japanese made reel and are they of the same quality. The new Citica E will be made in Japan and for only 10 dollars in retail price this may be a deciding factor for lots of anglers.

I have been an Abu connoisseur for 10+ years and I have to say that although I do own and have fished with many other top brands, this reel is where it's at! I was a little skeptical considering the reel has 4 less bearings than the other Revos but this reel is just as smooth if not smoother. Every time I'm on the water, I cannot put this reel down. I almost feel like I'm neglecting all of my other set-ups!! Although I would not recommend this reel for beginners due to the very fast spool, I would highly recommend the Premier to any more-advanced angler. Not that this reel can outcast any other reel on the market, but once adjusted correctly, the ease of casting is incredible, even with lighter lures. I will without a doubt be upgrading all my other reels, including my other Revos which I love dearly. This reel rocks!! Well worth the investment. Thank you Abu for your commitment to excellence!

Pros: lightweight, very comfortable to palm, good range of braking adjustments, 24 lbs of drag- best in class!!, Ifini Spool II system, excellent line capacity, and of course the good ol' Abu built "For Life" construction
Cons: honestly, none that I have found yet

This is my heavy duty bass reel. I loaded it with 65lb braid and use it for hauling bass out of sticky cover with jigs. It also will be used for swim baits in 2008. Love this reel!!!
