Pros: One of my favorite spinning reels by far.
Shimano Stradic has always been known for its quality, smoothness and durability. It is the most popular reel Shimano sells to tournament fisherman. Very quiet reel that will outperform most in its category.
Usually comes with an extra extra spool.
Very little maintenance and another Shimano reel you can pass on to your kids.

Cons: None, love the Stradic series.

This reel is perfect for someone wanting a lighter reel. I picked this up for my wife since she was having trouble with my 1500 and 2500 models being too heavy for her. I mated it with a Falcon Lowrider Open Hook rod and it's the lightest setup I think I have in the boat. The only thing I didn't like about this reel was the fairly shallow spool but I loaded it with 15lb braid so it worked out. Unless you use braid this reel might not be ideal for bass fishing. I wish it had a bit faster retrieve but given it's size it's a very powerful reel and my wife loves it.

The Sahara series from Shimano is an excellent mid priced reel. It's super smooth and strong with silky smooth drag and a fast 6.2:1 retrieve. It's excellent for shakey head or drop shotting on a spinning rig and I've found it will hold up to most any situation you put it in. It could be a bit lighter but it's not as heavy as some in it's size range.
